Very nice, I always enjoy people killing animals that were once, still could be, endangered. I want to go manatee hunting when I am finished here, you think that Florida Fish and Wildlife will allow it?
On Friday evening, we drive around in the truck and set out baits. To do this, we use ¼ inch rope and tie a 9/0 fishing hook on it. For bait we use large pieces of cow lung. You use cow lung because it floats and the gators will not eat anything sitting on the bottom. We set out 14 baits that evening. Next, you go back to the hunting camp and drink some beers, talk about chicks and fart a lot. The next morning, you load up the bang stick and head out to see what you got! Now come the fun part. You get to pull them up to the bank and hit them in the head with the bang stick. They still aren’t dead, just stunned. You then drag them up the bank to flat land and cut their spinal just behind the head to make sure they won’t bite you! Load ‘em up in the truck and move on to the next bait. We had 10 gators on 14 baits.
And Drew, Alligators are no where near even being endangered. The guy we went with has 800 tags from the state of Florida. They are even allowed to sell the eggs. He said he has taken over 250 every year for the last 10 years. He said this summer, they found 80 nests and were allowed to sell the eggs from half of those.
That is awesome. Anything that involves jumping on a tied up animal and killing it is ok in my book. You are wrong about one thing though. The Alligator is an endangered species. This website explains it all: http://neyture.info/teachered/endanger/reports/reptiles/alligator/alligator.html
Don't you feel guilty about killing gators now? That's what I thought.
And if the state is giving this ONE guy 800 tags a year, I don't think they are worried about the population.
There are save the manatee groups that still claim that they are endangered. About 6 months ago there was a report by an independant company that did counts and proved that there are more manatees now than there were in the late 1800's. Yet we still have No wake Manatee zones going up because of hippie groups. They are cutting into my fishing time because I have to go slow for a hour anywhere I go now!!!!

If they serve gator at restaurant's I can't imagine they are that endangered.
Sounds awesome to me Beal, if you want to start a protest group about Manatee's just let me know. I am in.
The American Gator was placed on the Endangered Species list in 1967 and was removed in 1987. So, it was endangered but not now.
