Need Advice...

So here is the deal. Most of you know I have been in my new job for almost four months now. I got hired making a crappy entry-level wage of $35,000 which is the same wage I made at WaMu minus bonuses. Long story short...I am fuckin tired of making $35,000 because I have been making that same wage for about 15 months now. Anyway, I received a "promotion" and moved into the trading room and took on much more responsibility even though I am in the learning process. I received my 90 day performance review yesterday and even though I had a great review...no talk of money what-so-ever...which obviously left a bad taste in my mouth. So do I have a valid argument to ask for more money or is it too soon? This was the only part about a small company that worried me...I hate asking for more money and honestly feel I shouldn't have to. I moved to take this job and have really dedicated myself and done well. Give me your honest opinions.

I'm in very much the same situation. Working at a somewhat-small (read:local) company, making similar money for a similar amount of time. The difference is we're about to hit some financial hardship with Medicare budget cuts, so instead of deciding to ask for a raise, I come in every day wondering if I'm going to get laid-off... fun stuff. To answer your question, it couldn't hurt to ask in the form of a written document, stating your work record and what company gains could be attributed to you as reasons for a raise in pay. At the very least, you could ask about the company's policy regarding raises, they should at least get the hint.

Well I think first you should inquire from some fellow employees on how often/what their policies on raises/reviews are. I found it obscene they would give you a review and a promotion with no raise. 90 days is fairly quick to get a raise though but perhaps they do a 6 month raise or something. I think it is a valid question to ask your boss as well. But I like Eric's idea. Point of interest i received a tip from a fellow employee and have been keeping a record of all the significant things that I have accomplished at work. It wouldnt be a bad idea to sit down and do that for yourself if you do approach your boss. But you dont want to be taken as ungrateful and get canned either. What do i know i have been working for like 3 and a half months. Tread lightly my Jville friend. But you should get what you deserve.

90 days is very quick for a raise. 6 months is typical. Wait until Christmas, you might be getting a bonus then. As The Nick keep a record of what you have accomplished there that helps the company.
With little companies, you will be underpaid but you get better benefits. I did so well last month, my boss picked up my rent and he has no problem with me going home every month for my treatments. I am however EXTREMELY underpaid for a Captain. Not only am I a captain but I also work in the office in the down time for the same underpaid captain salary.
BUT.....
I have lived here for 4 months now and have not once paid rent(boss man covered all that so far), I got a free temperpedic bed when I moved here and I can use the boats whenever I want when they are not booked.

I would give it a little more time before I went for more money, what is the word around the office on how your review affects your wage....is it normal for raises to be associated with this review. My company gives annual raises to its regular employees, and has tier for contract employees. Just as a sidenote, what is your wage in comparison with other companies?
Not to try to sell the company I work for, but you may want to check out the Bellsouth website for jobs, telecom companies actually pay pretty well, and there is a rather large office in Jacksonville.

Well since the new positions have been created, they said they are looking into comparable jobs and will pay accordingly. They seem to really be dragging ass on the process though and rumor has it...didn't like the salaries they found. In my opinion, it sounds like they were higher than what they want to pay. I guess I just have to suck it up and be patient. Thanks for the input fellas. Like I said, I have been making the same wage for quite a while now and just feel like I am stuck, and when I feel like that...it is hard to be patient and keep from getting frustrated.
