I tell you what, momentum is a hell of a thing in college football. Into the 3rd quarter, I would have bet my first born kid Rutger's would win it, you could just sense the game going that way.

All I have to say is GO RUTGERS! Good for them, I love a good ol' fashion underdog story. I now pose this question for discussion...If Rutgers wins out and wins the Big East beating both Louisville and a very tough W.V. team (both ranked as high as #3 in the country)...do they deserve a title shot as an undefeated over all 1 loss teams? Discuss.

No, if Rutgers wins out, its still Rutgers. In college football, you can't come out of nowhere and play in the championship game, no Cinderellas at this ball. They won't really have a shot until next year, when their program will be respected. But that said, Go Scarlet Knights, Go Gators.

I agree, it may seem unfair but an undefeated Rutgers won't be in the title game. Especially since they are coming out the Big East, which I still think is overrated. The only non-conference team worth anything that either Louisville, Rutgers or West Virginia played this year was Miami (which isn't "Miami" this year). So I think its hard to base how good the conference actually is.
I was listening to Mike Golic the other day and he agreed that Louisville, Rutgers and WV are above average teams, but if you put them in any other major conference they would not likely be the top of the pack. I know thats a hard thing to say, but whatever, I agree.
That being said the title game should be Mich or Ohio against either a one loss SEC team, Cal, or Texas. I can't wait man, College football just got interesting!

Let me play devil's advocate here with my argument. First, both Louisville and West Virginia were at time #3 behind UM and OSU. In these situations, we can assume either team would have gone to the championship pending an undefeated season and Big East title against the undefeated winner of UM/OSU. Now if Rutgers wins out, they would have beaten both of these team that WOULD HAVE GONE to the title game. So why is there a difference? Just because they are Rutgers? Seems like a shitty reason if you ask me. What we have here kids (if everything goes as planned) is the perfect reason why we need a play-off system.

I'm all for a playoff system! Down with the BCS!

I think what you are missing here is that WV was overrated to begin with. Just because they kept blowing out nobody teams, they kept moving up the polls. Then they finally played somebody (not necessarily a really great team, just a team worth a damn, Louisville) and WV lost. Then Louisville was thought to be this great team for knocking off a #3 (read: Overrated) team, eventhough they have abs. no defense. So it was no surprise to me when Rutgers beat an (again Overrated) #3 team by shutting down the "#2 Offense in the country" by playing ... defense. And was able to score because LV has no ... defense. So that puts us where we are. The overrated teams have fallen as soon as a worthwhile opponent reared its ugly head. And to let Rutgers go to the championship game *if* they win out would be just making the same mistake that was almost made twice w/ WV and LV. My $0.02.
