I had mentioned before I had thought about starting my own detail business. Well I recently stubbled across an opportunity that caught my eye because it is basically the same as starting your own, but they pay you a base salary of $60,000. Let me know what you guys think.

Seems like an opportunity that is similar to what you want, also seems like it is pretty difficult to become a franchise (which is good).
A few questions though, how much does it cost to franchise and how do they make any money if they are paying you :). Just remember my motto, "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Find out where the costs lie.
Did you look into my mom's business at all, she's really looking for some younger people.
Well, I will actually be looking into an employee position. Base salary of 60,000 plus bonuses and benefits. Their money comes from me using their systems and supplies. Eventually I plan to grow and hire employees to work for me. Then become my own franchise. So HOPEFULLY, I will only being doing the hands-on work for a relativily short period of time, then have people doing it for me while I manage.
This sounds like the perfect thing you were looking for...a concern of mine is how much/if any does it cost you to get started or do the training because the base salary of 60,000 is pretty incredible starting amount for just starting out in any business especially one that requires you to find clientel...my other question is if you are on salary how much pressure is on you to do the leg work and dig up clients...but if there is not many start up costs then what do u really have to lose sounds sweet to me...YO JAE i was unsure on what ur mom was looking for can u explain it for me
I don't think they will let you be an individual employee. If you are going to work as an employee you will probably have to find someone who owns a franchise. Other than that the cost of a franchise is 500K with a renewal fee of 250k plus 10% of profits. Slow growth last year with only 15 new franchises. You gotta watch these things with the 60K a year but you buy your supplies from us. It could easily run 30K a year for all the equipment you need. If you are going to do detailing I would start my own company. Franchises are a pain in the ass. I find it hard to believe that a job you can get with a high school degree has a salary of 60K a year. Sounds too good to be true.
reread info on franchise. Fee is 500 plus 10% not 500K. The only reason to start a franchise like this is the advertising, I dont see 500 going that far for advertising. Just be sure you arent going to be obligated to pay them anything yearly. Like Mary Kay does.
Good info Chris...appreciate it!
that mary kay is a god damn whore and always has been :)
