Really Clever 3D Effect for Wii

This is from back in '07 but a co-worker just brought it to my attention...

Totally awesome! I would love to see it on a real game like Halo, COD, or especially Assassin's Creed.

Wow, really really cool. Too bad the Kinect doesn't offer something like that. I guess it would get totally confusing with multiple gamers though. What are anyone's thoughts on that Kinect thing, too? Anyone going to buy it?

This is a very well done implementation of one of the three ways to have glasses-less 3D. This head tracking method, as well as the motion sensor in the display method's major drawback is that they require motion to get the 3D effect. If the viewer (or display) remains stationary, the 3D effect is lost. The final method involves parallax barriers, who's major drawback (currently) is viewing angle.

As for Kinect, it has not impressed me in the least. It is Wii motion controls sans the fine detail of the remote's motion sensors. You may be the controller, but there's only so much that can be done with 4 appendages and a head.

eric, have you tried the kinect out (like a demo or a friend's place)?

btw, there's a lot i can do with 4 appendages and a head, zow. yes i did just follow nick right into the gutter.
