New gear, new hobby

I should be posting some higher quality pictures from now on following the arrival of my birthday present. It's a Sony SLT-A55V with the 18-55mm kit lens. Also pictured are some used Minolta AF lenses I picked up online. It's going to take some time to figure out what I'm doing, but even the first pics are way better than the old P&S. Anyone else on the blog using an SLR? Tips?

Never used the SLR. We used the Canon 5d on a bunch of shoots. Which shoots great pictures and amazing HD video. Ironically it is being used a lot in commercial shoots and some B-Camera shots on films and such. But I have heard great things about the SLR.

Not sure how that is ironic. I pulled a Nick with that one.

Nice! I have a nikon d80. I have the 18-55 kit lens and a 18-200 lens. Haven't used it much lately but it does take about 1000 shots to get used to it.
Next thing you will want are some filters and a flash.
