Sign of our generation

Is it weird that I laugh when I see a man get his head kicked off backwards? Two gay gentleman sitting next to me at the movies were a bit put off by the fact I kept laughing during "The Expendables." Cristina thought it was funny too. I got to thinking what a person from the 1950's would say if he saw one of our modern movies. I think I am just way too desensitized to violence.

I really do not think we are truly desensitized to violence. I think we are better at separating real violence and fictional violence. When I saw that girl get hit by a bus, that shit haunted me for a few days. But a good bloody movie is pretty amusing in my book.

I think we are desensitized to fictional violence like Drew says. I think previous generations were exposed to far worse real violence than we have been. If we had to live through WWII or Vietnam we would have a different reaction to seeing a man lose his head.

Sounds like The Expendables was pretty good! It got some pretty terrible reviews but what do they know?

Adam it is definitely worth seeing if you want some gratuitous violence and some classic Stallone. If they made another one I would definitely go see it.
