Day 2 in my new office

Today I did a million dollars in my new office, and it was all from bank of america. I also purchased furniture for my new place, which means all my money is gone. I bought a dining room table, but for god only knows what reason because we usually eat on the couch anyway.

He jumped off the front of Parks Robinson's boat. We were heading in from fishing in our boat when Parks was heading out in his. We stopped and talked to him a little while, he said he was meeting up with some other people out there.

Hell yes

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-2200466,00.html

Lots of excitement to start off a Sunday..

We woke up this morning to a loud BOOM followed by the fire alarm for the whole building blazing in our ears.

We got dressed and went outside to see what was going on.

Noticed everyone looking down into the garage so I walked over and found the root of the evil.

The gate had given out while opening and came crashing down on some poor guys car (pics below). If you look you can see the broken chain.

I went down and snapped a pic and a movie of the scene from below.

Back up top the firemen show up to the rescue.

Firemen talking to our landlady. They seem let down but I think this is exciting!

We eventually end up with 3 firetrucks! Go Pasadena FD!
Here are the pics of the guy's car. From what I estimate, he was going into the garage when the gate snapped and fell on his hood, then he backed out and this was the result:

He's definitely lucky it didn't break a little later and come crashing down across his windshield! I emailed him these pics for insurance purposes since he didn't have a camera.

Time for some breakfast! All this excitement has got me jonesin' for some grub.

Mojito for me-to

We made some mojitos in an effort to use up our remaining rum.

2 shots of rum + 1 shot of lime juice + 4 crushed mint leaves + 2 tablespoons of sugar + club soda + ice = 2 happy drunks

Cheers!

Here's to heat, not the kind that ignites and burns down shanties, but the kind that excites and slides down panties! (thanks to Chris for that one)

Google finance

Not sure how many of you guys check stock prices, but if you haven't tried Google's attempt at http://finance.google.com, shame on you.

They do a really good job of putting a lot of information about the company on one page, including recent news that is time-stamped on the plot of the stock price. It has a flashy (no pun intended) flash gui for the plot that lets you change the time scale w/out reloading the page.

On a more sour note for Google, I read somewhere recently that Google Video holds only like 6% market share of the video search market. Youtube.com is #1 by a long shot with 43%! The funny thing is that Youtube makes it's money by using Google Adsense.

Arcade Update

I have built a prototype controller with what will eventually be Player 3's controls (joystick, 4 buttons, coin button, start button), and I have proven to myself that I am fully capable of constructing and wiring a functional controller. I would post pics, but the monitor on my computer just died in an unrelated incident and I don't feel like installing camera stuff elsewhere. The next steps will be to order the rest of the controls, buy the wood, and start the project for real. I'll have to postpone all that for the time being since Christina just got hired in Sarasota and we are looking to get into an apartment ASAP. I'll keep everyone updated on that situation, and you'll definitely get pictures on move-in day.

The New Project

I've started planning a new project that utilizes the handyman and nerd sides of me, and I thought I'd let you all know. In the coming months I plan to begin construction on a full-size upright arcade cabinet, which will house an old PC chock full of MAME Roms, just over 5000 of them last time I checked. Controls will include a 4-player layout and a trackball. I built a scale model (approx 1/10) tonight to get an idea of how it would look, and I am more than satisfied. I'm thinking this project can be done in a minimum of 3 months and a max of 6, depending on how easily I can find some of the parts I need on the cheap. Here are some pics of the model.

I am risen

I went a way for a while to a sunny spot in fort myers with a corp. card and a $200 a night hotel with free happy hour. I am now officially officified having been given an office of my very own to do with as I please. I left when there were only 4 contributors and now I see we have many more. As a reward I give you www.usanbt.com, enjoy. I will post some office pics when I move in, but sadly operations said I cannot put a spear on my wall as it may pose a security threat. I will also post pics of my apartment when and if I decide to fill it with furniture, it looks so big empty, and the savings account looks big too minus the buying of furniture. Good to hear from everyone. I was wondering if anyone has seen Angela lansbury in a while or is it that stage in her career when she poses for playboy. Also Josh/Brain Cancer 1, Whitney Houston 0.

Computer bogged down?

Hey all you Windows users, has your computer been running really slowly? My laptop has and it's been pissing me off. I uninstalled all unused programs, defragged, scandisked, virus scanned, spyware scanned and it was still running slowly. I figured I'd test the water and try to find something to clean my registry (I figured I had a few problems in it). I downloaded a few but finally settled on this one:

It's called WinASO Registry Optimizer. It's free to try so I did a scan and as you can see, I have over 1000 errors in my registry! This program will fix them, but the free version will only fix 10 errors per scan (CRAP). Luckily it tells you how many errors per area so you can disable scanning those areas so subsequent scans won't take as long. If you are not cheap like me you can shell out $29.95 and fix all your errors at once (moneybags).

PS: That scan took about 5-10 minutes but hopefully your comp won't be in as bad a shape

I was rummaging through my documents and I ran across this flash game that I made a while back (timestamp on the file says April 2004). It was much more complete than I thought it was. If anyone wants the .fla file to continue the project I have it...

I can't get the full thing to show up right, here's a link:
