Netflix Price Change

I'm sure everyone else got the email about Netflix splitting up their DVDs vs Streaming. What is everyone's take on this? We cancelled the streaming portion and went DVD only until their streaming selection grows. I know Netflix is trying to push everyone towards the streaming since that's where they make their money, but I think this move is going to backfire as more people like us ditch the streaming since the selection just isn't worth $8 a month.

Yeah I think it is a bad move. As it is, people tend to not like subscription services. It gets even worse when people nickel and dime things too. I canceled my Netflix a few months ago and haven't really missed it. After using it heavily for 6 years you start to run out of things to watch. Using a torrent service is easier than waiting for DVD's too...

Holly and I have made the conversion to Netflix/Hulu instead of cable a couple months ago, so I find this unfortunate. Obviously I use the streaming quite a bit for tv shows and documentaries, but their movie collection is terrible, so I don't know what we are going to do yet. They definitely need to improve the streaming offerings on the movie side...or they will end up losing revenue at the end of the day.

Jae to your point I thought Netflix was trying to push people to using streaming in my eyes this will draw people away from it. People will do exactly what I did and go hmmm..is it really worth near $100 a year for a streaming service I barely use....NO

Personally I am going to cancel my streaming service and keep the two mail in DVDs we currently get and personally I think we get good use out of. If there is a series we want to watch usually we use one DVD for that and one for the "new" movie releases they have.
