The top ends in a ski-town (Ski-Valley), it is 30 degrees cooler at the top than in Tucson (~65)

Found this website while tooling around the internet today.

Woot.com is an online marketplace started in 2004 that sells one item per day. They have a description of that item (that often mocks the item) and community forums w/ opinions on the item. They have grown to a customer base of over 300,000.

Battle of the apocalypse? No, a baseball game.

Christina and I went to the Devil Rays vs. Angels on 06/06/06 expecting the greatest battle of all time... well, maybe our expectations weren't that high. The game turned out to be an absolute blowout, but the good news was the Angels were on the winning side, considering all of the biblical references. The final score was 12-1, we stayed long enough to see it get to 11-1 through 8 innings. On a side note, I was surprised there were no reports of any idiots trying to pull some stunt yesterday.

Mini-update

Well after going the first 4 days w/out easy internet access (had to go to Kinkos for $0.10/min), I'm posting a small update. We didn't have much luck w/ the home shopping. Everything has moved a bit out of our range ($230ish). We found a really nice apartment to rent short-term that allows large dogs (golden retrievers here we come). Lots of pics and a movie walkthrough of the apartment to follow once we get back to home-base (Pasadena).

New apartment

Christina and I moved this weekend, some details are on my blog. If anyone knows of family/friends looking to get rid of a couch and/or a washing machine, let me know; that's all we need to call our apartment fully furnished (I'm picking up a dryer today!).

Tucson trip

Jenny and I are headed to Tucson this morning on a 6-day quest (sponsored by my future employer) to make living arrangements. We have been pre-approved for a home loan up to $200,000 and will be taking a look at some properties. It's still not clear to us if we should buy now or rent for a short bit to learn the area. We also have some rental homes lined up for visiting.

My parents and brother will be meeting us out there tonight through Wednesday to see the sights. They'll be coming back to Pasadena for my graduation (June 9th, pfew).

We're taking the camera so expect pics (and asking $) of a small bit of the real-estate market in Tucson.
