You gotta love it when a talented musician and singer like Esperanza Spalding wins out over publicity stunts like Justin Beiber. This is a short video showcasing her talent.

Best new artist: 2011 Grammy's

Performing at White House: May 12, 2009...

I understand best new artist doesn't have be be a brand new band/artist, but for a jazz bassist it seems she had pretty much "made it" by 2009. She also has 3 solo albums!

Whatever, the Grammys are juts crap. I mean they have been terrible since Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for the first Heavy Metal Grammy back in the late 80s.

Double bass is the shittiest instrument ever. If you ever listen to jazz, once the bass has a solo, it basically sounds like silence. It was a good precursor to the electric bass, though.

PS The Grammys are stupid. And Ke$ha is awesome, Jared.

lol Adam - I could just imagine you car dancing to Ke$ha.

I'm probably the only person over 16 willing to admit this, but I love Justin Bieber. He is ridiculously talented. Commercial yes, exploited yes, but he can play a whole mess of instruments, dance like you wouldn't believe, and managed to turn himself into a franchise before puberty. Not to mention he beat Shaq in some 1-on-1 bball :)
