Today was the grand opening of the Bradenton Riverwalk and we decided to check out the festivities after work. It's spans the riverfront between MMH and Rossi Park and it's really nice. Amenities include a boat launch for kayaks / rowing teams, a skate park, 2 sand volleyball courts, a playground, a fountain/water park for kids, many covered benches and swings, an amphitheater, a fishing pier and a large dock with 20+ boat slips.

that looks pretty cool, how is the city paying for that? hopefully it stays nice and helps draw some more tourism to btown.
We did a little Sunday brunch with my parents at Pier 22 (where the Kanzler's got married) and then walked some of the Riverwalk and I must say it was enjoyable. If they can slowly add a couple of more ammentities it could be real nice. However, as is it was very enjoyable to walk along the river (yes it was quite nice out Sunday so that helped.)
you know you're getting old when...
We saw the preliminary stages when we were looking into rehearsal dinner venues (which coincidentally will be at Pier 22). The Courtyard Mariott next door is where our out of town guests will be, so it's good to know they'll have something to do! Looks really nice, especially on a nice day.
